			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>While the move had been anticipated for a while now, the Atlanta City Council confirmed what everyone had been thinking. They will be supporting a casino hotel complex that is being proposed for Underground Atlanta.</p>
<p>Dan O&#8217;Leary is the man behind the proposal. He is planning a $500 million casino and hotel complex to help revive the struggling area. The money that would be generated would be used for the city and metro region and also would raise money for the HOPE Scholarship Program. </p>

Tunica, Miss., is now the third largest casino destination in the United States, with nine casinos. And new casinos in Pennsylvania are performing well.</p>

<p>&#8220;Mayor Franklin supports casino at Underground, developers say&#8221;</p>
<p>Underground Atlanta developers have received support of Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin for their proposed lottery-tied casino  at the downtown entertainment complex.</p>
<p>Underground developer Dan O’Leary told members of an Atlanta City Council subcommittee on Tuesday he has a letter of support from Franklin. O’Leary presented his proposal to members of the Community Relations and Human Resources committee. The presentation was for information purposes only and no vote was taken, though City Councilman Jim Maddox gave public support for the proposal.</p>
